Details of barristers on this website were first compiled from the publicly-available Bar Council yearbook in the 1990s. However, despite the public nature of the information, a number of barristers have since indicated that they do not wish to publicise their contact details. A recent email - partly in capital letters - said:
Dear Mr Wood
You have, without my authorisation or consent, placed personal data on the internet, namely, my home telephone number. I have today received a telephone call at my home number.
PLEASE REMOVE ALL DATA RELATING TO ME IMMEDIATELY AND PLEASE CONFIRM THAT YOU HAVE DONE SO, FAILING WHICH I WILL REFER THE MATTER TO THE DATA PROTECTION COMMISSIONER. PLEASE DO NOT PLACE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION ABOUT ME ON ANY WEBSITE.
Please respond to confirm that this has been done. When that is done, please delete my e-mail address from your p.c., all I.T systems and all other filing systems.
Rather than publish a partial list, and to avoid further communications of this nature, I have decided to remove ALL barristers' details from this website. Individual barrister's contact details may now be found here
